He also runs half-marathons, can you keep up?

Jason Kunz

You might say metal is in Jason’s blood: Jason grew up as a metal head listening to bands like Metallica, Megadeth and Motorhead, but now he finds the sounds of the machines to be music to his ears.

Jason has been with LeanWerks almost as long as LeanWerks has been around.

He started as an apprentice machinist in 2005, and worked his way up to overseeing the entire production operation.

As LeanWerks has grown and evolved, so has Jason – but he still comes to work each day with the wonder of a child:

“I love how we can take a big chunk of metal and turn it into something truly useful and valuable for the customer.”

Other companies might have given him the title of ‘Production Manager’, but he really feels ‘Value Stream Manager’ fits better with what LeanWerks is all about.

And it still turns his crank when he and his team find a way to add more value than what the client even asked for… like that time they figured out how to build a complex part in one process instead of using multiple set-ups that other manufacturers using because, well, ‘that’s the way they always did it.’

From metal head to renaissance man? In addition to being metaphysically connected to everything that happens on the shop floor, Jason is also an accomplished blues guitar player, an encyclopedia of American craft beer, a foodie and serious backcountry hiker. Here he is on day 5 of a 9-day trip in the wilds of Wyoming.
